Power Mark

Allies of the Night Hunter,

I would like to call upon you. This is something that I have mentioned before, but would like to actually make happen. I was hoping we could come up with a simple logo or rune type design for Jessica's power and focus in the fight against the Evils. This is something that we could make out of metal or other simple material. This should be something she could take with her and draw strength from in her fight day-in-and-day-out. I was hoping it would be something she could meditate with/on as a focus for her healing and hope. The sign of her power in all this, and a constant reminder that she is never in this fight alone, even when the Beast is at her door or has her pushed back.

The singer, uh, McHaggis, I think, offered up the Cho Ku Rei symbol from here http://www.worldhealing.net/symbols.html
Which others has liked as it could be done easily and also symbolizes one of her power ups in it as well. Any other thoughts?

I want us to try and do this soon, so that it can be a focus to us as well, in our aid to her fight.

Allies, for Jessica, please think on this and give feed back. Also anyone who may know how to make this or someone who does. I think if we make it a simple enough design, as above, we could cast it pretty easily.

Thank you, allies. May we continue in our good fight.

  1. If you guys pick the design, I have no problem making a pendant out of it. I'm digging the Cho Ku Rei symbol, looks like a music note.

  2. I'm thinking a pewter casting would be appropriate... and I'm sure we won't have to twist Matt's arm to come up with the means to do it!

  3. And just to get his wheel rolling...

  4. I love, love this idea, and I really like that Cho Ku Rei symbol (my first thought was that it looked like a music note too), but I had a question. Was there a particular reason for wanting it to be made out of metal? I don't want to sound like Pollyanna here, but I'd actually rather prefer wood, for two reasons: a) despite being a Metal Rooster by Chinese astrology, I have more affinity for wood and b) a lot of metals react weirdly with my skin. Nearly everything I wear has to be either white gold or silver, which could get a little expensive to cast. u_u Plus, with wood, Matt can do it on the epilogue machine at the shop, which would be quick and easy. Thoughts?

THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING AWESOME.

  5. I really like the symbol, and if wood feels better to you and is less likely to cause a reaction, that would be totally awesome--I think metal was just the first thought because that's what jewelry tends to be made of. (If you could find some oak, that could tie it back to your Sagittarius-ness.)

  6. Wood would be even better. I just didn't know if any of us worked in wood, so metal would have been easier. Would would be great and we can also do research on the meanings of different woods as well. Oak would be great! Whatever you have ties to and would make you feel the best.

  7. and the fact that Matt has the machine for wood working, makes it even 10X cooler.

  8. oh it's not just a machine, it's freaking CNC LASER!

  9. Matt, if you need a .dxf for the CNC, I can produce one quite easily!

  11. If someone is any good at converting raster graphics to vector art (or if we can find a vector version of the graphic) I can also embroider it on stuff if people are interested. You know, like on a sweatshirt, drawstring bags, etc. I can try the conversion myself, but I thought I'd check to see if there's an expert out there first :) I can also contact a designer friend of mine as another option.

  12. Matt had a really good idea - take a square of wood and do a copper inlay of the symbol. I'm really grooving on this. :D

I looked up some tree symbolism - cedar seems like a good one. It symbolizes health and healing, and I loooooooovvve the smell of cedar. I was thinking about oak too.

  13. @Tara: Nice!!! That would be pretty hot. I have a couple programs that might be able to convert raster to vector... let me play with it. :) Or I might try drawing it myself with my fancypants Wacom. ;D

  14. I should really learn to google before I type. I found at least one vector graphic of it.

Let me know if anyone's interested in this kind of thing or not.

  16. Awesome, so lots of ways to get this done and work as a group. Jess, now it is up to you. Pick the ultimate symbol for yourself. JP will do a .dfx for Matt and we can look for a vector for it for Tara.

Thank you all for working together on this quest.

  17. I love this quest!

Jess, once you pick a symbol, let us know :)

  18. Have there been any decisions made on a version of this?

  19. Sorry, this is my fault - I'm the hold-up here. Sorry! I really like the Cho Ku Rei symbol on the site that JP linked - my only request is to reverse the image, so that the "tail" at the top points to the right and it looks more like an eighth note. ;) Does that make sense?

Am I getting really demanding to ask if we could do something with Om and the lotus at some point too, because those have been symbols of my own philosophy and sources of strength for me for a long time? I don't want Om/lotus instead of the Cho Ku Rei, because I think they symbolize and mean different things. Om and the lotus help me to remember that beautiful things come from the lowest, most awful places, which is important, but not the same as a power symbol for healing. :)

  20. Is this version close to what you want?

I can split the black and white so it doesn't have the shadow look to it . And I can definitely reverse the direction.
